#WeRideTogether has developed the Safeguarding Essentials Template (SET) Package to support sporting organizations in creating their essential safeguarding documents from an athlete-informed, community-centric, evidence-based, and trauma-informed lens.
Did we mention this package is EASY and FREE?
Across all sports, at every level of play, safeguarding athletes holistically is paramount in creating safe and healthy environments that protect our athletes and protect our sports.
However, for many organizations, developing safeguarding policies, documents, and initiatives may seem like a daunting task. It may be difficult to discern where to begin, what should be prioritized, or how to take your safeguarding to the next level.
This SET Package provides any sporting organization with the baseline assets necessary to safeguard their sporting environment. It includes simple yet detailed instructions, and fillable templates for reporting forms, codes of conduct, safeguarding policies, and risk assessments. It also lays out a clear step-by-step plan for developing and implementing these policies based on your organization’s unique needs.
The contents of these documents are stakeholder-informed, reflective of community culture, and in alignment with applicable legal and regulatory jurisdiction requirements. The package instructions guide your organization on how to incorporate and listen to the voices of all your stakeholders – staff, coaches, athletes, parents, etc.
We all have a role to play in safeguarding our sports.
Within the SET Package, organizations will be guided to gather the necessary information and fill out a user-friendly Google Form specific to each of the four safeguarding documents that you will create. The Google Form will automatically populate and produce a PDF for your organization, which #WeRideTogether will send to you within 5 business days.
And, of course, #WeRideTogether is here to support you along each step of the process with our pro bono consultation services.
We must remember that people and policy are interconnected when it comes to safeguarding our sports. Interpersonal interactions are informed by the safeguarding policies upheld by their sporting organizations. When we develop and implement policies and procedures that clearly define acceptable and unacceptable behavior, we engage in proactive abuse prevention and shift sports culture towards an environment based on care and support.
